This is the back view of our house. There is an exterior door on the top left for access to the top deck. This is a great place for that morning cup of coffee......you can see the ocean over the horizon. This is also where I like to sit and read...plenty of sunshine with a nice breeze to keep you cool. The bottom deck allows access to the side yard. The two downstairs bedrooms open to this deck. The exterior door leads to the bathroom. Sounds strange at first. However, it is a great idea......the kids don't have to tromp through the house wet from the pool when they need to use the bathroom. At this time you must access the fenced in area from the side yard. Our intention is to install a set of stairs from the bottom deck with direct access to the inside of the fence.
This post is titled "Great Places to Eat" for a reason. Obviously I think the decks are great places to eat. You can cook something up in the kitchen to serve, or better yet, walk down to The Coastal Provisions Market (http://www.coastalprovisionsmarket.com) and grab a sandwich or dinner to go. Check it out....you won't be disappointed! If you really feel the need to go out for lunch or dinner, give the Red Sky Cafe in Duck a try. It is just a short drive away and well worth the effort http://www.redskycafe.com. Mark and I know the chef, Billy Price, from "back in the day". The place is small - and has an open kitchen so you can see the chefs at work. Alex and Bryce highly recommend the chicken fingers for the younger ones! And, don't forget to save room for dessert. Hmmm, that might be a good "to go" item that you can eat back at the cottage while sitting on the deck. We will have to give that a try soon and let you know how it goes!
